SAP SD is a component of SAP ERP and does not have to be purchased separately when using SAP ERP. The main task of the sales module is to map the sale of products or services to business partners. For this purpose, SAP ERP provides a series of functions that should help with the individual steps of sales, dispatch and the final billing. In addition, the return process can be processed and monitored using SAP SD.

      A key component of sales is the sale. In order to create customer-specific offers, SAP offers the maintenance of sales-relevant master data. For example, different condition types and condition records can be stored for each customer, which are taken into account when creating an offer. However, SAP already supports the customer's initial creation of an offer, starting with the documentation of the first customer contact about the first specific inquiries about specific goods.       Once a sales order has been agreed upon, the goods are to be delivered to the respective customer in due time. At this point, the sales process is very closely linked to the processes of material management. In order for goods to be dispatched, they are picked in the warehouse according to the order. The great advantage of SAP SD and the complete integration right down to warehouse management is that a delivery document is automatically created and all goods movements are recorded in the system and can thus be monitored and tracked accurately. In this way, the material stock can be corrected directly on completion of a delivery and a goods issue can be posted.
